I have traveled all over the Continental US and abroad. But, I have found myself for this week staying in a high rise Hilton in Downtown Salt Lake City. I must say that this sky line never gets old and living in LA for 26 years; I know a thing about sky lines. The first thing that hit me was how clean the air was. I guess something I have learned to take for granted living in smoggy LA. But I guess every place you go has itβs plus and minuses.
After a 2.5 hour flight, then making it to pick up my rental car, I was tired but a new level of energy seemed to give me a Banaca-blast to pick my spirits up. The view from my Hotel window shows the brilliance of what Salt Lake City has to offer. I would say for once the picture does justice for exactly what I see. Iβm not much for going out on business trips, but I get the feeling that there is allot of cool things going on in this town.
Iβm finding myself staring out the window and people watching, even though they look like oversized ants from my perspective. Iβm here for work, but so far I can definitely say that the people are friendly and go about there business in their own world. Iβm the first one of my team to arrive and Iβm contemplating stepping out and finding a nice seafood dinner. Typically Iβm a home body and just settle in and order room service. But my life is changing more rapidly than in my control and I must say for me itβs taking some getting used to. But, this is what I signed up for and need to take control of my future. So itβs out into the clean air, to see what downtown is all about.
I walked about a block and found the spot, recommended from the concierge desk and was very happy with the choice. Did he look at me and say, βSeafood-Lover for sureβ! Well, she nailed it and it was just what the doctor ordered. Again for me, letβs go out of my comfort zone and try something different then my normal. I have never heard of a Megalodon-Tiger-Prawn, but it is the biggest shrimp I have ever seen. They have a slight flip on the traditional Surf and Turf, but it really was a good fillet and I stuffed myself and the plate was heated to 400 degrees, which when brought to me was sizzling with intensity.

I walked around downtown a bit to try and walk off this food-coma, that currently had a choke-hold on me. I did see they have a nice gym or just maybe a dip in the hot tub to take the edge off. Naaah, this Old Fashion seems to have done the trick.

Iβm already flashing forward to what I need to accomplish tomorrow. This will be my first time at this site and work with this team, although I see them through On-line TEAMS meetings every day, but never in person. Iβm happy to finally put a face with a name and establish a baseline of mutual respect and commitment to completing our goals, that at times seems like an impossible task.
For me itβs compartmentalizing my priorities and working on each segment till done. Saying that to myself sure makes it sound better than the crazy life I lead going from one meeting to the next. Putting out multiple fires, as members of my staff pop into my office. I think they really come for the great assortment of candy that I keep stocked in my crystal dish on my desk. There is no such thing as a mundane day, but normally a frenzy of changing platforms and things to ponder. Although I get stressed out sometimes, the feeling of accomplishment and looking back on all the hard work and long nights, seem to ring the bell for me π
