The second day of Kwanzaa honors self-determination (kujichagulia): ‘To define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves.

This day and 2nd principle is special to me because it empowers me to take charge of my own destiny and not let others dictate my future. This is something I struggle with on a daily basis. This is a reminder to be the person that I’m capable of being, and stop letting self-doubt and negativity be the dictator in my life.
