Something I always struggled with was taking care of myself. I used to think that Therapy and going to Spas for massages was for the rich, or just a waste of time. I was miserably and terribly mistaken. No, I was just dead wrong!!

Both of these two elements have become so important to me this year, that, I wish I would have been able to afford both back in the day and understood the importance they demand for a healthy Mind, Body and Soul.

The impacts are felt in varying aspects, but the feeling of strong mental health and taking care of oneself has to be the top priority.

My therapist once said β€œ We say we prioritize mental health, but the best kept secret is we prioritize managing people’s symptoms so they can get back to society as usual. This is the system that we live in πŸ₯²

β€œTHE MIND IS ITS MEDITATION AND THOUGHTS, THE HEART IS ITS LOVE AND TEMPTATION, AND THE SOUL IS ITS EXPERIENCES”

I’m the first to admit that I have allot of work to do (🚧 man under construction 🚧), to be the best person I can be. We all wish that we could rewind the tape and do things differently, treat people differently and make better decisions that might not have had such detrimental outcomes. But understanding that you are a child of God and imperfect in his eyes and bound to make mistakes is crucial. I know he sees me and forgives me for my sins. I have to show myself grace and temperament.

I’m working to figure things out by putting in the work with my Therapist and understand what REAL devotion to self worth and commitment to being a better person looks like.

You also need to make sure you’re doing what brings you a sense of true happiness, purpose, and meaning. Make sure you surround yourself with people that make you laugh (Really hard 🎭).

Being your best self isn’t dependent on life being a smooth paved road or perfect β€” it’s about what you can control. That might mean eradicating people out of your life that you thought were supposed to be there, or changing patterns of what seemed to be normalcy.

So my strategy is to continue with Therapy and getting periodic Massages (Burke Williams) to relax and release stress and tension from my transgressions, achievements and failures of the week.

Can anyone relate?

Yes, I can relate. It is easy to put ourselves on the back burner and take care of others. However, I’ve learned you have to schedule some self-love routinely. Otherwise, you will not be good for anyone or anything else.

Just curious- Do you prefer massages in silence or in meaningful interaction with the person doing the massage? Which is more therapeutic?
