I guess it’s my time to travel. This time a quick trip to our sister site Sunnyvale, California to assist with a program. I have been here once before. Luckily they told me on Saturday and I was able to fly in and catch some Sunday Night Football, San Francisco 49ers -Vs the Dallas Cowgirls. Sorry Dallas fans I just couldn’t resist.

This emergency travel is a pain, but also gives me a sense of accomplishment and accountability, that they need my input to solve a problem. So I don’t mind, and it gives me a chance to explore this amazing city. I’m almost embarrassed to admit this, but I have lived in California full-time since 1998, and I have never been to San Francisco 🫣

I take that back when I received my USATF LEVEL III/IAAF Level V, I stayed on the campus of California State University East Bay for a week and we stayed in class from 7am to 6 pm every day with 5 exams across the span we were there. So there was no time for site-seeing and checking out the town. But it was nice to look across the bay at the amazing skyline.

I tried to maximize my time. Shout out to MiGuel for great directions to the waters edge to get this amazing shot (effects added of course) and recommendations for dinner. I feel like I really won’t see much of my hotel room and it’s in one of the nicest Hiltons I have ever stayed in. I mean…. It’s’ no Waldorf Astoria, but it’s not like my company would ever spring for that hotel and justify it being in our allowable allocation requirement per diem.

I LYFTED to Pier 39 and had a multitude of restaurants to choose from on this humongous pier. I decided on The Fog Harbor Fish House and I wasn’t let down by the abeyance of this quaint restaurant. The only thing that would have made it better would have been some good company and conversation; But ya can’t have everything right 🀣🀣

I decided to try something different to go with my dinner selection of Seared Scallops and Crab Risotto. I added to that a recommendation by my very helpful waiter, Kathy. She recommended I go with the house Blonde Lager and it was pretty good. Again, not a big drinker for good reason, but every once in a while with a good meal I like to dabble a bit.

After dinner I had the most hilarious LYFT driver RamΓ‘n and I swear he took the long way. But, he was so funny it was worth the extra time as he explained to me his life story as he bobbed and weaved throughout traffic, like it was standing still. If I didn’t know any better I would swear he was a crazy NYC driver. I also appreciated him taking me to Lombard street even if it was at night. I’m still, scratching my head why this Civil Engineer in 1961 would design a street like this.

Goodbye San Francisco till next time πŸ›«

Hey, I would have something to say about that Cowboy remark, but I don’t claim them so have at it. San francisco is a cool place to visit, on the pier you should have gone to Ghirardelli if it is still there and tried some exotic chocolate ie. Chocolate covered worms or grasshoppers. The animal lover in me loved to see the sea lions sun bathing off the warf, not sure if this is the season to view them but, you would have smelled them if nothing else. Sounds like the trip was great. Love seeing the world through your eyes. Thanks for sharing

I love visiting SF, especially driving up the coast and taking in the sites along the way. Of all the times I’ve visited, I’ve never gone to Lombard street. That looks crazy! Gotta go next time Troi and I get up there.

I’m glad you got a chance to see a little of it. Very cool pics 😊.
