UJIMA (Collective Work and Responsibility)
Today is day 2 of KWANZAA and a very special one near and dear to my heart; UJIMA (Collective Work and Responsibility)
Culture for-Service and Service for Humanity, is more than a statement, itβs a vow I made many years ago. The fraternal lines run deep in my family, but whatβs more etched is the purpose of helping others. This year I yearned for more of an active role in the community after feeling stifled by the pandemic.
To be honest somewhere during the COVID-World we lived in, not only was the tragedy felt due to human loss. But somewhere in that time I lost something that has always meant something to me, which was helping our youth succeed in life. My Non-Profit Post-Season team had been brought to an abrupt halt and my desire to resurrect it from the shut-down left me soul searching and lost. I decided to not bring back the team of well over 100 athletes, due to a feeling that I had lost my way. I felt a sense of being overwhelmed and fatigued just thinking of the amount of work and thankless hours put into managing a team of that size.
The silver lining is that in 2024, I will field a small Indoor Tack travel team, but this will be my only commitment on this platform. But God has a way of opening and closing doors and we just have to understand and follow his path.
What did captivate me this year started off by just being asked to speak on a few panels at my alma mater and blossomed into a much larger role than expected. Having the ability to mold and help young people achieve their goals. This resonated with my heart and called me to service and I never looked back.
This next chapter in my life in 2024 speaks volume to my heart and Collective Work and responsibility by working/Networking and Collaborating with others.
I challenge everyone to pursue a new dream or take steps towards and existing one this year!β¨β¨β¨
