My grand father on a fishing trip when I was eight,
Gave me words of wisdom that at the time I couldnβt relate.
He often spoke words of profound understanding and depth,
Only to be understood during maturation and time of deep breaths.
He said;
βGRANDSON EVERYTHING THAT GLITTERS AINT GOLD, AND UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TRUE FRIEND AND AN ASSOCIATE WILL BE TWO-FOLDβ
Being such a young lad this went right over my head,
Little did I know his words were shaping things I would have to be fed..
Over the years people will come in and out of your life, cloaked like prophets, but thru trials and tribulations no benefit or profit.
What he instilled is that associates tell you what you want to hear, and friends speak the truth, even if it hurts and show no sign of fear.
You will see in time that saying things to stroke your ego and false-sense, transcends to you going down a path of insecurities based on nonsense.
The man that speaks the truth even though it hurts, is preparing your soul for enrichment and true understanding and comfort.
Surround yourself with souls that work toward goals and achievements, work on a positive future and donβt dwell on non-believers and those that need to repent.
Learn to have tough skin and take a level of critique,
As true friends will tell you the truth and not fall back in times of defeat.
Love friends hard with reckless abandon, and keep a long wooden spoon for associates with the sign of adversity, just run.
