I woke up this morning to the amazing news that NASA PSYCHE MISSION had just took place from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. What makes this different from just any other mission is the destination. The first thing that jumped into my head is the movie β€œPASSENGERS”. I know I’m a dreamer, but the thought of sending a large group of earth inhabitants to a distant colony planet 120 light years away from earth gets my immediate attention. But, one cat wakes up and gets lonely and decides to find the flyest chic sleeping and awake her too 🀣🀣

Psyche launched Oct. 13, 2023, at 10:19 a.m. EDT from Kennedy Space Center. Psyche lifted off from Launch Pad 39A and was powered by a Heavy SpaceX Falcon rocket. What makes this launch exciting and special is that it won’t reach its destination till 2029!!. Yes, it will take the spacecraft that long to reach what scientists hope will explore for the first time ever, an asteroid made not of rock or ice, but metal. I know what you’re thinking. We just spent a billion dollars of tax payers money on some damn rock! Not exactly accurate.

But it’s deeper than that, this asteroid offers a unique window into building blocks of true planet formation. We for the first time will encounter multiple layers of metal in an uninhabitable space meteor.

What I wouldn’t give to be a young engineer starting my career, working on all of these amazing missions. Don’t get me wrong, I felt truly honored to work on the Space Shuttle, but this right here gets me damn excitedπŸ€“

So while the naysayers still want to debate wether or not we actually went to the moon. Our new generation is exploring the galaxy for life and ways to formulate a new paradigm of thoughts of what’s truly possible.
